Application process
- Apply using Marian University’s free, online application.
- English language proficiency: Students whose first language is not English, or who attended high school in a country where English is not an official or widely spoken language*, are required to submit an official English language proficiency test result.
- For application purposes, scanned copies of documents are accepted.
- For external exams (e.g., IGCSE, WAEC, or IB), submit results issued by the examining board.
- If your transcripts are not in English, include a word-for-word English translation. You may translate them yourself or use a service such as indytranslations.com.
- We will do our best to evaluate your academic records. However, you may be required to submit an official credential evaluation.
For application and admission purposes, we accept scanned versions of your transcripts and academic credentials.

Marian University may waive this requirement if a student:
- Completed at least 3 years of upper secondary school in one of the following countries: *Anguilla, Antigua, Australia, Bahamas, Barbados, Barbuda, Belize, Bermuda, British Virginia Islands, Botswana, Canada, Dominica, Eswatini, Gambia, Ghana, Grand Cayman Islands, Grenada, Guyana, Irish Republic, Jamaica, Kenya, Lesotho, Liberia, Malawi, Montserrat, Namibia, New Zealand, Nigeria, Philippines, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Sierra Leone, Singapore, St. Lucia, St. Vincent & the Grenadines, Tanzania, Tobago, Trinidad, Turks and Caicos Islands, Uganda, United Kingdom, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.
- Completed at least 1 year of high school at a US high school
- Earned a minimum of 24 credits from an accredited US college or university
Nursing Students
Before starting clinical nursing courses, students must demonstrate English language proficiency if English is not their first language or if they are not citizens of a country where English is an official language.
Students can meet this requirement by providing one of the following:
- TOEFL iBT score of 83 or higher, with a minimum speaking score of 26
- IELTS Academic score of 6.5 or higher, with a minimum speaking score of 7
- Duolingo English Test score of 120 or higher
- Proof of a conferred bachelor’s degree or higher from a regionally accredited U.S. college or university
- Proof of at least four years of formal secondary or post-secondary education in the United States
Next Steps After Admission
Admitted students must submit the following items by June 15 for fall enrollment or November 1 for spring enrollment.
- Official Academic Documents: Submit official, final high school transcripts and/or external exam results. WAEC results will be downloaded through the verification portal and do not need to be submitted separately.
- Enrollment Deposit: Submit a nonrefundable deposit of $100 to reserve your place in the incoming class.
- Passport: Submit a copy or scan of the photo identity page of your passport.
- Proof of finances: Submit a completed Financial Verification Form along with supporting documents dated within the past six months. These should show that you have sufficient funds to cover the total cost of attendance for your first year of study. Acceptable supporting documents include a bank statement or a letter from the bank, and a sponsor letter if applicable. Proof of finances is required only for F-1 students.
- Once received, we will review your completed application and contact you via email if any additional information is needed.
- If admitted, you will receive an official Marian University admission letter and an I-20 form through the mail.
