Nyree recently graduated from Butler University in May 2019 and completed her Bachelors of Arts in Political Science. While she calls Gary home, Nyree attended Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory School. As Brebeuf is a small private school, Nyree knew her college search would consist of personable schools with small class sizes. It was this criteria that lead her to Butler University, and the feeling of home when she arrived on campus that made her stay.

While at Butler, Nyree was an Advocate for Community Engagement (ACE) for a semester with the Center for Citizenship and Community. In this position, she was a resource for students who needed to complete the service requirement to graduate. Nyree was also a member of the student-led organization, Bust the B.U.B.B.L.E. (Believe and Understand that the Butler Bubble Limits Everyone), which allowed her to serve the Indianapolis community and to encourage more diversity on Butler’s campus.

Similar to Butler, Nyree appreciates that Marian has small class sizes and that Marian students can build close relationships with their advisors and professors, which led her to pursue a career at Marian. Also, being close to downtown Indianapolis opens the door to enriching experiences with internships, networking, and fun activities that a big city brings. The best advice Nyree can give to incoming students would be to live in the present. She advises her students to take in all the wonderful experiences and moments they will have as a college student.

In her spare time, Nyree enjoys dancing and drumming with the Cultural Diversity Drum Circle and spending quality time with her mother and her younger sister.
