SOAR Schedule | Marian University

2019 SOAR schedule

What will I do at SOAR?

There are a variety of SOAR sessions and activities to help you acclimate to Marian  and build connections with faculty, staff, and fellow incoming students.

Here is what you can expect during your assigned SOAR program.

  • Attend information sessions to learn more about paying for college, living on campus, and more.
  • Get familiar with campus resources and meet key Marian staff members at our resource fair.
  • Learn about Marian's history, traditions, and begin to grow your Knight spirit. Go Knights!
  • Find out what it takes to excel in the classroom at college and meet some of our favorite professors during our faculty connections sessions.
  • Meet your orientation leader, a current MU student who will lead you through SOAR and be a mentor for you during your first year.
  • Enjoy lunch with current students, families, faculty, and staff in our new Dining Commons.
  • Connect with the dean and faculty from your major and learn more about your academic program at college breakout sessions.
  • Meet with your academic advisor and register for fall classes during academic advising.

Two-day SOAR programs

During our two-day SOAR program, you'll complete activities like these.

  • Discover and discuss challenging situations faced by many college students. Learn how to tackle these hurdles with confidence during College 101.
  • Check out some of our favorite local Indianapolis restaurants. Head downtown for dinner with orientation leaders during Downtown Dinners.
  • There's no better way to wrap up a long day than with games, music, dancing, s'mores, beach volleyball, and meeting new people at Knights@Night.
  • Stay overnight in a residence hall, and get a feel for what its like to live on campus.
