Career Paths & Growing Demand for Health Sciences Graduates
Graduates with an associate degree in health sciences can pursue diverse roles — such as medical or administrative assistant, patient intake coordinator, health-information support, community health outreach, or support staff in clinics, nursing homes, and allied health facilities.
Employment in many healthcare support occupations is projected to grow much faster than average, driven by an aging population, expanded access to care, and rising demand for preventive services. With your online health sciences degree, you’ll be well-positioned for entry-level opportunities and for advancing to other health or allied health careers.
The program offers a pathway to continue your education online at Marian. Students may seek to continue into the Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing or BA in Health and Human Services upon completion of the associate’s degree.
How to Apply for the Associate in Science in Health Sciences Program
Transfer & Next-Step Pathways: From AS to Bachelor or Professional Health Programs
Marian University’s AS in Health Sciences is designed as a stepping-stone toward careers or higher degrees. Graduates may choose to transfer into a bachelor’s-level health-related program — such as the BA in Health and Human Services — or use their AS as a foundation for programs like nursing (through the Accelerated BSN track) or allied health certificates. This flexibility makes the degree ideal for students who want to keep their long-term academic and professional options open.
Prepare your application materials needed:
- Provide all official high school and college transcripts (to be considered official, transcripts need to be sent directly from the institution to Marian University at onlineadmissions@marian.edu)
Have one of the following:
- GPA of 2.00 on a 4.00 scale from the last college attended
- high school GPA of 2.30 on a 4.00 scale
- GED score of 51 or above, or a passing TASC score
Please visit the Business Office "Tuition Rates" page.
If students prefer to proceed toward a nursing career post upon earning their AS in Health Science degree, Marian also offers an Accelerated BSN Program. A logical bachelor’s level continuation for AS Health Graduates is also available in our BA in Health and Human Services Online degree.
