Instructor Vikash Patel is from a small town in west Georgia. From a young age he had great curiosity in understanding how the heart contracts and what happens in the brain when we are learning, sleeping, and perceiving. His interest grew into passion. He obtained his Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences from Purdue University. He later obtained a master's in public health from Mercer University School of Medicine and a master's in physiology and biophysics from Stony Brook University.
Instructor Patel teaches introductory biology, anatomy and physiology, and microbiology courses. He is also a public health educator. His objective is to disseminate complex scientific concepts into a simpler means that create ‘aha’ moments for students. By incorporating a multidisciplinary approach, he also creates a learning experience that allows building critical thinking and reasoning skills to understand and apply biological science to healthcare. Higher education and healthcare are evolving; consequently, he implements cutting edge teaching methods integrated with technology. This ensures that students are getting a world-class education.
He is an avid runner, loves to travel, and play his collection of musical toys including a violin, sitar, tablas, and a synthesizer.
