Each year, the Marian University Founders Classic honors individuals or a group who has helped make the university what it is today. This year’s event honors longtime supporters of Marian University, Mike and Bea Becher.
In 2009, Mike Becher joined the Marian University Board of Trustees and along with his wife Bea, they have shared their time, talent, and treasure. They continue to provide extraordinary foundational leadership in helping transform Marian University into a national, doctoral institution.
Mike and Bea are the current co-chairs of Journey to 2030: Always Forward, and have made a transformational gift to support the effort. Mike served as past chairman of the Board of Trustees and currently serves on the finance committee. Bea is a long time member of the Marian University Gala committee, and a Clare Circle member of the Women of Marian Society.
“We are truly honored to be recognized at the Marian University Founders Classic Golf Outing and take great pride in knowing that this event, like all things at Marian, will ultimately benefit future Marian students who need financial assistance. We are honored and blessed to be a part of the Marian community.” Mike and Bea Becher

The Sisters of St. Francis, Oldenburg, Indiana moved Marian College to Indianapolis in 1937 and have laid the foundation of Franciscan sponsorship values that guides Marian University today. This remarkable group of women have ministered to
thousands of students throughout the Midwest and beyond. We are humbled, excited, and have set an aspirational goal of securing $150,000 in scholarship support to honor Mike and Bea Becher and the Sisters of St. Francis, Oldenburg, Indiana.

"Receiving a Marian athletic scholarship meant that all my years of hard work paid off. Not only was I able to continue to play the sport I love in college, but alongside it I was able to further my education. This opportunity put me in a position to chase after dreams bigger than those I had on the field."
