Emergency federal CARES Act funds

Marian University completed, signed, and submitted the 2020 CARES HEERF Certification and Agreement indicating that the institution agrees to utilize the designated funds received under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act to provide Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students.

Upon submittal of this form, Marian University received $902,636 to be used to provide emergency financial aid grants  directly to students, as mandated by the guidelines.

As of May 13, 2020, Marian opened its CARES Act application for eligible students to apply for the emergency grant funding. Marian began distributing the CARES Act funds to students on May 20, 2020.

Marian estimated about 2,500 students would be eligible to receive funding. Marian required that students were Title IV eligible and met the requirements mandated by the CARES Act to determine eligibility for students.

The max amount of funding that could be awarded to an individual student was based upon the maximum Pell grant amount that students could receive for the 2019-2020 year.

As of June 29, 2020, Marian has distributed $748,636 in funding to about 490 students. Determination of eligibility for awarding was based on an application created by the university.

At this time, the application for the CARES Act funds at Marian University has been closed.
