Emergency federal CARES Act funds

Marian University completed, signed, and submitted the 2020 CARES HEERF Certification and Agreement indicating that the institution agrees to utilize the designated funds received under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act to provide Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students.

Upon submittal of this form, Marian University received $902,636 to be used to provide emergency financial aid grants  directly to students, as mandated by the guidelines.

As of May 13, 2020, Marian opened its CARES Act application for eligible students to apply for the emergency grant funding. Marian began distributing the CARES Act funds to students on May 20, 2020.

Marian estimated about 2,500 students would be eligible to receive funding. Marian required that students were Title IV eligible and met the requirements mandated by the CARES Act to determine eligibility for students.

The max amount of funding that could be awarded to an individual student was based upon the maximum Pell grant amount that students could receive for the 2019-2020 year.

As of September 30, 2020, Marian has distributed $752,895 in funding to about 500 students. Determination of eligibility for awarding was based on an application created by the university.

HEERF Quarterly Reporting as of October 30, 2020

As of December 31, 2020, Marian has distributed $776,993.04 in funding to about 620 students. Determination of eligibility for awarding was based on an application created by the university.

HEERF Quarterly Reporting as of December 31, 2020

As of March 31, 2021, Marian has distributed $902,636 for the student portion of the CARES funding to a total of 638 students. An email was issued to students eligible for the remaining CARES Act funding on Tuesday March 30, 2021, to notify students of their eligibility. Final funding was awarded based on student need determined by their 2020-2021 FAFSA results. This is the final quarterly posting report that covers all remaining HEERF fund expenditures for Section 18004(a)(1) Student Portion funds.
