Ever wonder how The Exchange, Marian University’s career development office, can support students who are working during business hours and/or who live outside Central Indiana? There’s a host of ways students or alumni can utilize The Exchange’s supports and resources as they navigate career exploration, networking, job search, interviewing, and much more.
Here are four ways you can utilize The Exchange to give your career journey a boost today:
The Exchange has a library of example Marian University student résumés from various disciplines. We have online resources to help you prepare and apply for a job that meets your needs. These videos and documents can be an excellent starting point for developing or revising your job search documents and honing your search strategies. Best of all, they can be accessed at any time.
If you’re seeking employment, Handshake is our online job board and can be a great place to begin your job search in any number of regions. We also recommend checking out LinkedIn and utilizing your professional network to find opportunities.
Request an appointment time with us on Handshake, and in the notes specify that you would like to meet via video conference or phone. We are happy to talk career planning, résumés and cover letters, interviewing, or any other career-related topic. If you would like a review of your job search documents or personal statement, send a draft to us ahead of time and we will have feedback ready for you.
If your time zone or work schedule doesn’t allow any business hours appointments, submitting your job search documents on Handshake is a great way to get an e-review of your résumé or cover letter. For further discussion about your career, you may email us at exchange@marian.edu to request an appointment time that fits your schedule.
The Exchange has accounts on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter. Follow us for articles relating to career development, upcoming events, and workforce news. Keep a special eye out for visiting employers. Even if you cannot be here on campus, we can introduce you via email to recruiters who are visiting campus if you have an interest in their organization. We also have periodic job fairs and are happy to share lists of the employers attending the events to assist with your job search.
