Marian University College of Osteopathic Medicine Students Shine Bright in Recent Publications

Congratulations to Marian University College of Osteopathic Medicine (MU-COM) medicine students whose research and writings have recently been published. While all in their fields of study, the students offer essential insights into the medical world.

100Wyatt-Reed-OMS-pic-113023OMS-II Wyatt Reed's publication "Geospatial and Socioeconomic Disparities in Access to Interventional Radiology Care in the United States" discovers interventional radiologists are disproportionately distributed. It is published in the Journal of Vascular and Interventional Radiology.

abrahamAnother student, Benjamin Abraham OMS-IV , wrote a database review entitled "Intraventricular hemorrhage in term infants: a single institutional experience between 2016 and 2020". In this review, Abraham collected demographic data and etiology to learn more about preterm birth complications. The work is published in the journal "Child's Nervous System."

geisseThese outstanding students also work in collaboration with other researchers as well. COM alumna Dr. Karla Geisse worked with Dr. Zachary Sheff to write "Treatment of Severe Blunt Splenic Injury Varies Across Race and Insurance Type of Pediatric Patients." The results provide more information on the racial and socioeconomic disparities in the care of patients, especially trauma patients and pediatric BSI patients. You can find this work in the Journal of Surgical Research.
