Marion Health to Provide New Residencies for Students Through Newly Accredited Family Medicine Residency Program

The Marian University College of Osteopathic Medicine (MU-COM) is proud to support and celebrate Marion Health’s achievement of ACGME (Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education) certification for its Family Medicine Residency Program. This groundbreaking residency program is the first Indiana rural residency program. It will provide opportunities for medical students and play a critical role in the future of healthcare in our community.

Now in its tenth year, MU-COM continues to uphold its mission to address the pressing shortage of primary care physicians in Indiana, particularly in rural areas. Despite the increasing number of physicians graduating from Indiana medical schools over the past several years, the number of available residency positions has not kept pace with this growth. MU-COM has recognized this need and is dedicated to supporting the development of new residency positions within our state.

“Marion Health has been an invaluable partner to MU-COM, graciously hosting our students on monthly clinical rotations,” said Amanda Wright, DO, dean of the Marian University College of Osteopathic Medicine. “Marion Health’s commitment to medical education aligns seamlessly with our mission to educate highly knowledgeable, caring physicians, and we are thrilled to continue this collaborative journey.”

This initiative, under the visionary leadership of Marion Health’s Chief Executive Officer, Stephanie Hilton-Siebert, promises to redefine healthcare in our community. Introducing the Family Medicine Residency Program reinforces commitment to delivering the highest standard of care and emphasizes the critical role family medicine plays in providing comprehensive and compassionate care.

“The Family Medicine Residency program at Marion Health is a groundbreaking initiative that promises to shape the future of healthcare in our community,” stated Stephanie Hilton-Siebert, Marion Health President and CEO.
