Marian Knights Athletic Director Steve Downing received honors again. Late September 2023, Downing received the Major Taylor Award at the Circle City Classic Coaches Luncheon.
Since its inception in 1987, the Major Taylor Award has been presented to African-American athletes, coaches, athletic administrators, and officials who make a significant local and national contribution to youth and encourage excellence in future generations. Mayor Taylor was the world's first black sports superstar and a world cycling champion in 1899 who set numerous cycling records.
Congratulations to our shining star, Steve Downing, who, in July, was named Crossroads League Athletic Director of the Year. We celebrate Downing's incredible sports achievements and continued community dedication.
