Marian University Assistant Professor Celebrated for her Published Work on Chronic Kidney Disease

Marian University is celebrating the hard work of Julia Hum, Ph.D., assistant professor of physiology and interim director of biomedical sciences program and her contribution to “Segregating the effects of ferric citrate-mediated iron utilization and FGF23 in a mouse model of CKD.”

Hum's work dives into the different impacts of therapy for chronic kidney disease. Assistant Provost for Research and Scholarship Jonathon Lowery, Ph.D., said, “It is with great Marian pride that this work was published in the journal Physiological Reports in June 2022." 

Hum's work was in collaboration with Marian University College of Osteopathic Medicine student Michael Liesen and investigators at IUPUI, Indiana University School of Medicine, and Purdue University.
