Vicars-Pugh observed a number of bodies of water while creating this series. According to the artist, “in this body of work paint becomes a metaphor for water. It moves like a river concealing and revealing parts of the painting’s history. It reflects like a mirror on the surface of quiet lake and it freezes like ice, in a puddle, trapping the past. It drips down like rain-washing over the surface like a baptism, allowing areas to resurface anew.”
The Marian University Art Gallery is located in Marian Hall on the west end of the 2nd floor. Gallery hours are 9 a.m.-5 p.m. and by appointment. Contact gallery director Jenny Ambroise for more information.
