International Student Requirements for Admission
For for the freshman class
Submit official/certified transcripts in their original language and with an English translation indicating graduation with a minimum of a 2.40 cumulative grade point average (out of 4.00 scale). Uncertified photocopies are not sufficient.
For transfer students
Please order a course-by-course credential evaluation report from www.wes.org or www.ece.org for each college/university attended outside the United States.
Applicants with fewer than 20 semester hours of college credit should also submit a secondary school academic record indicating a minimum of a 2.40 cumulative grade point average (out of 4.00 scale).
Demonstrate English language proficiency
(for students from countries where English is not the primary language) demonstrated by a minimum score:
Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL).
- 69 Internet-based total or above
- 193 Computer-based total or above
- 523 Paper-based total or above
OR International English Language Testing System (IELTS)
OR Official transcript verifying successful completion of the following English Program levels:
- ELS Level 112 (Indianapolis ELS Center located 10 minutes by car from Marian University)
- Bridge English Level B2
To be considered for admission to the School of Nursing at a minimum IELTS score of 6.5 (no speaking score below 7.0) is required.
Provide evidence of financial support
International students must provide Financial Verification Form to show that sufficient funds are available to cover all study and living expenses for the first year at Marian University.
- Privately sponsored students must submit a letter from the sponsor stating the amount that will be provided as well as confirmation from the sponsor's bank verifying sufficient funds are available to cover all study and living expenses for the first year of study.
- Government sponsored students must submit an official letter from the government specifying the terms of the scholarship or a letter of financial guarantee.

Undergraduate students must live in a residence hall on the Marian University campus unless they have reached the age of 21 before starting the next semester, or are living with a parent or guardian and commuting from this residence. A fully refundable enrollment deposit of $100 is required in full before August 1 for fall semester and December 1 for spring semester.
Tuition, fee and housing/meal payments are normally due on July 15 for the fall semester and December 15 for the spring semester of each year. Students registering after those due dates or within 10 days before the date will have alternate, later due dates established by the University. Normally those due dates require payment in full no later than the last date of the month in which the courses commence.
Students unable to pay by the due date are not allowed to enroll. Students who do not enroll, but who remain in the United States, have violated their student visa status.
Each student is expected to know the regulations of his/her government for exchanging and forwarding money to the United States. Difficulties in this area do not excuse a student from timely payment.

All international students are required to have health insurance for themselves and their families (if have dependents) to help pay for medical care. Students are required to provide evidence of appropriate coverage that extends to the United States, in English, by August 1st for fall semester and December 1st for spring semester.
Heath insurance can be secured online through the Lewer Foundation. Please choose the Student Select Plan option and follow the prompts. The start date for this plan should be the first date the student arrives in the United States.
