Our goal is to make better writers, not just better papers.

The Writing Center provides tutoring services that range from helping students develop ideas, to planning an outline, to helping students learn how to edit and proofread their final products. The Writing Center services are available to Marian University students, faculty, and staff at no charge. Tutors in the Writing Center are Marian faculty and students who are trained to support and accommodate the needs of writers at all levels. Specialized tutors are available to support writing and speaking across the Marian University curriculum.  Our specialists include majors in nursing, psychology, liberal arts, biology, and chemistry. For example, several tutors also represent Marian University on its nationally-recognized speech team, so they are able to help with rhetoric, speech construction, speech delivery, and all aspects of communication.

If you need help with writing or speech in any specialized field, please ask the Writing Center staff to help you set up an appointment with a specialized tutor. All tutoring sessions work to improve an individual’s writing or speaking by teaching college-level organizational and analytical skills.
