With a start-up grant
from Lilly Endowment and generous support from others, the “Rebuild My Church” program,
provides Marian College students with a unique educational experience depending
on their aspirations for the future.
One group includes all of Marian College's 1,500 students, who are reached by
the program through coursework, guest speakers, special retreats, and community
service opportunities. The broader program affords all students, regardless of
religious affiliation, the opportunity to explore their faith and the direction
of their lives.
A second group consists of those
students interested in church-related employment or serving their church
in a significant volunteer capacity. For example, these students could be
embarking on courses of study in pastoral leadership, religious education,
Catholic school education, religiously-affiliated healthcare/nursing, or
parish/church business management. Also, students pursuing other major areas
of study, such as psychology or music, with a minor in pastoral leadership,
are included in this group.
A third group is comprised of those students considering service to the church
through ordained ministry or religious life.
San Damiano scholarships are available for students in the second and third
group. To see if you qualify, go to the San
Damiano Scholarship page.
Bishop
Bruté House
of Formation at Marian College
Marian College, through a new partnership with the Archdiocese
of Indianapolis, established the Bishop Bruté House of Formation
at Marian College. Men discerning a vocation to ordained ministry participate
in a formation program for the priesthood which includes community prayer,
formation conferences and the study of philosophy and theology which will
prepare them for the next level of priestly formation. The program focuses
on four aspects:
- Human formation (growth as a
person; communication; leadership skills; and relationship skills) Spiritual
formation (becoming a man of prayer; being a disciple of Jesus; Mass and
prayer; and spiritual direction) Intellectual formation (solid grounding
in philosophy and theology)
- Pastoral formation (service to the poor; helping at a parish; and visiting
the sick)
Men interested in living
in the Bishop Bruté House of Formation have to be affiliated with their local diocese.
For more information contact your Diocesan Director of Vocations.
