Speech Team Wins State Tournament

Competing against a field of 10 teams from across the state, Marian University edged out Ball State University and the University of Indianapolis to win the state title.
On Saturday, February 20, 2010 Marian University made a little history by winning its first state championship in forensics. Each of the nine Marian University students at the tournament placed among the top six competitors in at least one event. The team won seven state championships in individual events.  For the past 25 years, either Indiana University or Ball State University has won the tournament. Other schools competing included Butler University, IUPUI, IU South Bend, Purdue University, University of Indianapolis, University of Notre Dame, and Wabash College. The Marian University team first attended the state tournament in 2007, placing seventh that year.      Here are the individual results.
