This Thanksgiving, we are very thankful for our many blessings and President Daniel J. Elsener shares his thanks and prayers with the Marian University Community.   Posted by Tori Kincaid
This Thanksgiving, let us all pray together:

Loving Father, for more than 75 years, Marian University's trustees, faculty, and staff, inspired by the courage and dedication of the Sisters of St. Francis, Oldenburg, Indiana, have proclaimed the Gospel here in the city of Indianapolis and beyond. Teach us to be grateful for the courage and vision of those who have gone before us.

Lord, the Marian University community has dedicated itself to excellent teaching and learning in the Franciscan and liberal arts traditions. Teach us to be grateful for the vision we have received from you in order to profoundly transform lives, society, and the world. Our spiritual mothers and fathers handed on their faith to us. Teach us to respond enthusiastically to the command you gave to St. Francis, St. Clare, and all their disciples to "Rebuild My Church." As we celebrate our 75th anniversary, teach us to be faithful to our Catholic and Franciscan values, informed by prayer: dignity of the individual, peace and justice, reconciliation, and responsible stewardship. Generations of Marian University alumni have dedicated themselves to serving the poor and vulnerable members of our community in Jesus' name. Teach us to be grateful for all our brothers and sisters who are poor, suffering, or in any kind of danger so that we may see Christ in them and welcome them as our sisters and brothers. Help us, Lord to educate leaders for service to our community as nurses and doctors, scientists and researchers, principals and school leaders, business entrepreneurs and skilled managers, priests, religious, and lay leaders for Your Church. Teach us to be good stewards of our time, talent, and treasure so that together we can serve those who are most in need and build up your kingdom here and now. Loving God, renew us in spirit this Thanksgiving by the power of your love. Make us faithful to the call to holiness and discipleship that each one of us has received from Your Son. Send us your Holy Spirit so that this Thanksgiving we may be especially faith-filled and willing to share what we believe with others. Help us, Lord, to express heartfelt thanks to all the alumni, donors, and friends of Marian University whose generosity sustains us in carrying out the mission we have received from You. May we always be people of faith who are grateful for all Your gifts and who share them generously with others in joy and in hope. Happy Thanksgiving! President Daniel J. Elsener
