Bill Polian and Barbara Wynne will be inducted into the Clayton Family Circle of Honor for their exemplary service to the youth of Indiana and beyond.
Bill Polian and Barbara S. Wynne will be inducted into the Clayton Family Circle of Honor on April 16, 2011. This is the second year that the university has honored individuals for their exemplary contributions to the intellectual, physical, and spiritual well-being of youth in Indiana and beyond. The2010 inductees were Jim Morris and Carl Erskine.   Bill Polian is in his 13th year as president of the Indianapolis Colts. He oversees all football and administrative aspects of the Colts, and has earned a reputation in the National Football League for his exemplary leadership. In a 2009 vote of his peers, Polian became the first six-time winner of the Executive of the Year award from The Sporting News. Barbara S. Wynne is the founder of the National Junior Tennis League in Indianapolis, founder and coordinator of the Washington Township Schools' Community Tennis Program, and co-chairman of Kids Helping Kids. She is a member of the USPTA and taught tennis for more than 47 years at the Indianapolis Racquet Club and the Barbara S. Wynne Tennis Center. Wynne is the founding publisher of Indy's Child.   The induction dinner will take place at 5:30 in theSteffen Music Center on the campus of Marian University prior to the annual spring football scrimmage at St.Vincent Health Field.   The Clayton Family Circle of Honor was created in part to honor, but also to inspire. Joe Clayton and his wife, Jan, agreed to lend their names to these awards because they believe in the character-building qualities associated with athletics in a university community. At Marian University, the faith tradition and values are activated in many ways, including athletics. On the fields and courts of competition, student-athletes learn respect, fair play, and teamwork. These values carry over into all areas of their lives: personal relationships, careers, parenthood, and community service.
