Select the Course That Fits Your Degree

The following course will be offered in 2014:

BUS 380 The Modern British Service Economy is an innovative course dealing with the British business community and strategic business concepts. This multidisciplinary course will compare and contrast the service economy as it exists in England with that of the United States, as well as issues in history, political science, language, culture, and religion. Students will participate in site visits in England, some with a strong cultural or historical context, to aid in the development of their understanding of the service sectors in Britain.

Prerequisites: Two of the following three courses: ECN 200, BUS 240, or BUS 250. This course will count as credit for BUS 450, ART 139, MUS 127, HIS 102, ENG 213 or as general elective hours.

HUM 380 Mysteries of the Arts Revealed: The Humanities Abroad in England is a multidisciplinary course in which students will have the opportunity to explore the mysteries of the past, as they intertwine with the 21st century. Works of art, music, and literature will come to life through actual experiences rather than through reading books, seeing photos, or listening to CDs. Students will encounter firsthand what is studied in Humanities from seeing a clay tablet of the Gilgamesh epic to seeing the Elgin Marbles from the Parthenon to hearing Handel's music, where he originally performed it. This juxtaposition of old and new, of traditional and change, will enable students to understand the present as a product of the past, and understand the past, as it is mediated through the present. This will be a life changing experience of the arts.

Prerequisite: none. This course will count as credit for ART 139, MUS 127, HIS 102, ENG 213 or as general elective hours.

NUR 380 Caring, Healing, and Self Discovery through the Arts and Nursing is a course which is restricted to students who have successfully completed a clinical nursing course. The course will be taught as a pilgrimage in a broad, spiritual sense. An opportunity to study the concepts and principles of art and science essential to caring, healing and self-discover, students will explore historical and cultural contexts for healing including works of art, healthcare settings, healing gardens, and sacred places.

Prerequisite: successful completion of a previous clinical nursing course. This course will count as credit for a Nursing elective, will satisfy the cross-cultural requirement, or can be used as a general elective.
