dcsimg Department of Music

Departmental Chair's Greeting!

The primary focus of the Department of Music at Marian University is on music education.  As you probably know, Indianapolis is the marching band and show choir capital of the nation and Marian is the only university in the area that offers students a collegiate show choir and a competition-style marching band.   Students who plan to teach in the Indianapolis area need to be well trained in these areas with the kind of education that Marian can provide.  For students looking for a way to combine music with spiritual calling we are also unique in offering a degree in Pastoral Music Ministry.

Here at Marian we know that music has the power to transform lives and create a better world.  While that may sound overly optimistic, we believe that music students at Marian University do experience the power music has to teach life lessons such as how to collaborate as a group, when to lead and when to follow, and how to respect all people.  If we work together we CAN make this a better world.  If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me or the Office of Admissions.
