United States Department of Education New Race and Ethnicity Data Collection The United States Department of Education has changed race and ethnicity data categories used in required institutional IPEDS (Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System) reporting starting with the fall 2008 term. It encourages institutions to re-survey their student bodies during this transition period.
