Students in the Department of English and Communication study all the ways that words shape our world. Each of the majors explores how written and spoken texts reflect, imagine, and challenge a particular culture’s way of being human.

The department provides students with an intellectual journey that prepares them well for critically engaged participation in our complex society—as well as rewarding careers. English and communication majors are truly "people of letters," grounded in the heart of a liberal arts education.
