Marian University Bands to Celebrate 50th Anniversary of Drum and Bugle Corps

by Amber Ferrari | Sep 03, 2014

Please join us on October 11 for the 2014 Marian University Band Day, where we will celebrate the 50th anniversary celebration of the Marian College “Blue Knight” Drum and Bugle Corps.

The celebration will begin as we cheer on the Knights against Siena Heights University for the 1 p.m. game.

Highlights will include a half-time performance with approximately 300 participants on St.Vincent’s Health Field. Half-time performers will include the Marian University Marching Band, alumni of the “Blue Knights,” marching band alumni, and performers from area high school bands.

The collaborative band will be performing a medley of top hits from 1964, the Marian University fight song, and the alma mater.

“The history of Marian University is rooted in faith and tradition. The Drum and Bugle Corps hold special memories from our past for several of our alumni and faculty and by commemorating this 50-year anniversary, we remember our growth and take each celebration as positive momentum into the future,” said assistant director of bands, Brent Hornaday.

We encourage all Marian University students, faculty, and alumni to come early and  tailgate in support of the Knights, then join in the special half-time celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Marian College “Blue Knight” Drum and Bugle Corps.

Sidney Hearn, Ph.D., director of bands, said, “We are really looking forward to this celebration and believe it will be a memorable experience for all.”

Any band alumni interested in participating in Band Day 2014, please contact Dr. Hearn at
