Marian University President Daniel J. Elsener joined Inside INdiana Business to discuss the university's continued growth and an ambitious initiative he says could position Indiana as a national model for healthcare innovation.
Elsener told host Kylie Veleta that Marian University now serves more than 5,000 students, with enrollment up nearly 10 percent. He also noted $102 million in construction projects underway as the university continues to invest in its academic programs and campus.
Much of the conversation focused on the Crossroads Academic Medical Institute, a statewide collaboration designed to expand Indiana's healthcare workforce, research, clinical training, and access to care.
Elsener described the Institute as an opportunity to bring universities, healthcare systems, and other partners together to address some of Indiana's most pressing healthcare needs.
“The next 5-10 years, this will have a major impact on the healthcare workforce, research, and making Indiana an even more innovative place,” Elsener said.
He also said the Institute has the potential to serve as a national model of healthcare efficiency.
