Marian University’s School of Business is welcoming a new Shining Star, Assistant Professor of Marketing and Sales Carissa Newton. With more than 25 years of marketing and sales experience, Newton brings real-world knowledge into the classroom and helps students prepare for their future careers.
In addition to teaching courses such as Professional Selling, Newton takes an active role in student organizations. She leads Marian’s American Marketing Association (AMA) and DECA programs, giving students opportunities to grow their skills, compete, network, and gain experience outside of the classroom.
Newton’s teaching focuses on learning by doing and connecting classroom lessons to the professional world. Her experience in marketing, sales, digital strategy, and business gives students a firsthand look at what they can expect after graduation.
“Two things: first, I am floored by the level of professionalism that I am seeing with the students, but second, I am excited to share the experiential side of sales and marketing.”
With her industry experience and dedication to her students, Newton is already making an impact at Marian. We are excited to see how this Shining Star continues to help students learn, grow, and prepare for their futures.
