Jonathan Lowery, Ph.D., Marian University’s inaugural assistant provost for research and scholarship and a professor of physiology, has been appointed to the Bone Health and Osteoporosis Foundation’s Scientific and Medical Advisory Council.
The council provides scientific and clinical guidance on national initiatives addressing bone health, osteoporosis, fracture prevention, rehabilitation, and patient education.
Dr. Lowery, a National Institutes of Health-funded investigator, studies bone and muscle health, inflammation, and musculoskeletal rehabilitation. His research portfolio comprises more than 50 publications on endocrinology, fracture healing, and musculoskeletal physiology. He has also served in leadership and advisory roles with national organizations, including the United States Bone and Joint Initiative, the Arthritis Foundation of Indiana, and the American Society for Bone & Mineral Research.
At Marian, Dr. Lowery oversees the university’s research enterprise, including sponsored research, research development, compliance, and institutional research operations.
“Bone health is central to quality of life, healthy aging, mobility, and independence,” Dr. Lowery said. “I am honored and grateful to join BHOF alongside clinicians, scientists, educators, and advocates committed to reducing fracture risk and improving patient care.”
Dr. Lowery’s appointment reflects Marian University’s expanding presence in biomedical research and its growing engagement with national scientific organizations. In addition to his scholarship, he has helped strengthen the university’s research infrastructure and support opportunities for faculty and student researchers.
