Match Day at Marian: The Moment Futures Take Shape

Match Day at MarianMatch Day places Marian medical students on the path to becoming physicians

The tension was palpable inside Crane Bay in Indianapolis as Marian University’s Wood College of Osteopathic Medicine Class of 2026 gathered with family and friends, each holding a simple white envelope.

Inside was everything they had worked toward.

Match Day marks the moment medical students nationwide learn where they will complete their residency training and the specialty that will define their careers.

At noon, the room broke open.

Envelopes tore. Eyes scanned the page. Then came the reaction, cheers, tears, and embraces as years of work came into focus.

“I cried and jumped and hugged my husband and didn’t move for, like, five minutes,” said Rebecca Muir, who matched into neurology at Indiana University. “I just needed time to take it all in.”

For many students, the moment carries more than excitement; it marks the culmination of years of discipline, sacrifice, and purpose.

“It’s something that’s just an honor for me. Something I’ve been looking forward to my whole life,” said Claire Eby, who matched into pediatrics at Ascension St. Vincent. “Especially these last few years, it’s what I’ve been building toward.”

Families celebrated alongside them, sharing a milestone that reflected both achievement and calling.

For Marian University’s Wood College of Osteopathic Medicine, the day also marked a significant achievement. For the second consecutive year, 100% of students matched residency programs, with all 148 graduates set to begin training this summer.

“They have put in the work. They have shown compassion,” said Dr. Amanda Wright, dean of the Wood College of Osteopathic Medicine. “We are so proud to see 148 students go out and make a difference as osteopathic physicians.”

For the Class of 2026, Match Day was more than a milestone.

It was the moment their future became real.

It’s something that’s just an honor for me… something I’ve been looking forward to just my whole life, and especially the last few years, something I’ve been building up to and preparing for.
