Two Marian University communication students earned top honors at the 2026 Indiana Association of School Broadcasters (IASB) College Competition, continuing the department’s rise in statewide recognition.
Braden Kidd received second place in the Podcast category, while Alberto Calzudes earned third place in Original Radio Drama.
Both projects were produced as part of Marian’s hands-on curriculum. Kidd developed his podcast in Dr. Yuanwei Lyu’s Senior Capstone course, and Calzudes created his radio drama in Dr. Marilda Oviedo’s Digital Storytelling class.
“These awards reflect the creativity and professionalism of our students,” said Dr. Pan Liu, assistant professor of communication. “This is our third consecutive year earning recognition at the state level.”
The IASB competition includes submissions from colleges and universities across Indiana, many with larger programs and resources. Despite that, Marian students continue to stand out.
Marian’s Department of Communication emphasizes real-world production experience, equipping students with the skills to succeed in today’s media landscape.
