Coach Justin Richmond, affectionately known as “Coach Juice,” is a Marian alumnus who competed as a student-athlete on the cycling team and now serves as the university’s Director of Strength and Conditioning. In his sixth year leading the program, Richmond and his staff oversee all athletics, with his primary focus on football, baseball, track and field, cycling, rugby, and wrestling.

He develops comprehensive training programs both in and out of season, aiming to cultivate athletes not just physically, but also personally. “We’re here to develop,” Richmond says. “My goal is to develop young men and women into the adults they’re going to be later in life, not just to get stronger and more explosive, but to change and shape you into a better person as you leave here.”

Over his tenure, Richmond has helped fuel Marian athletics’ success, coaching multiple national and world champions, conference winners, and providing professional-level training for athletes aiming to compete at the next level.

Coaching has been a calling for Richmond from early on. “Seeing coaching from my perspective now, it was a no-brainer,” he said. From a part-time assistant fresh out of college to leading Marian’s strength and conditioning program, his athletes aren’t just stronger, they’re better prepared for the next chapter of their lives, because of a coach and mentor who sees their potential.
