When Marian University students walk into class each day, they’re not just earning a degree; they’re preparing to change lives. That commitment to academic excellence and purpose-driven education was affirmed this week as U.S. News & World Report once again named Marian among the nation’s best colleges.
In the newly released 2026 Best Colleges rankings, Marian rose to No. 257 among National Universities, improving 16 spots from last year. The university also saw significant gains in two areas that directly reflect its mission:
“These rankings reflect the commitment of our faculty and staff to provide students with an education that is both academically rigorous and mission-driven,” said Dr. Binh Q. Tran, Chief Academic Officer. “We are especially proud of the progress in social mobility and nursing, which demonstrates our dedication to preparing students to excel in their professions and to lead with purpose in their communities.”
Preparing Leaders in Healthcare
The recognition extended to Marian’s Wood College of Osteopathic Medicine, where graduates are making a difference in communities across the country. This year, the college was ranked:
These honors highlight Marian’s growing reputation for preparing healthcare leaders who serve where they’re needed most.
Rankings With Purpose
While national rankings often highlight prestige, Marian’s success tells a deeper story—one of opportunity, access, and student success. More than half of the U.S. News ranking factors assess student outcomes, including graduation rates, college debt, and career earnings.
“U.S. News’ Best Colleges remains a reliable resource for prospective students and their families as they navigate the college selection process,” said LaMont Jones, Ed.D., managing editor for Education at U.S. News.
For Marian, the upward climb in the rankings is more than numbers—it’s a reflection of its mission to educate leaders who will serve, innovate, and inspire.
