Marian University Celebrates Growth and Community on the First Day of Fall Classes

A group of five young women posing together in front of large gold balloons that spell "W".The excitement was unmistakable on Monday, August 18, as Marian University welcomed students back to campus for the first day of classes for the 2025 fall semester. This year marks a milestone for Indy’s only Catholic university as Marian celebrates its third consecutive year of new traditional undergraduate enrollment growth across all its campuses.

One of those students is senior Lindsay Huston ’25, “I’m excited to get back in the classroom, and learn new techniques, especially with interviews and jobs coming up as I’m tying everything up in a bow before I graduate in December.”

With classes resuming after the summer break, students like third-year student Jade Dogan ’27, a sociology major, look forward to seeing friends and excelling on the track team. “I’m excited for this year because I want to run in track conferences, but I am also looking forward to my studies, as I also intern at the Marian Police Department as a dispatcher.

As students adjust to new classes, residence life, and campus rhythms, Marian faculty and staff are also happy to have students back on campus. “Having the students back just makes campus come alive again, said Jillian Kurtz, a manager of content development in the marketing communications department. “There’s a unique energy students provide when they’re here, as I enjoy working with and helping our student interns.”

Tristan Trevino ’27, a Marian cross-country team member, enjoys getting back into a routine. “I have a schedule of going to bed on time, waking up earlier, and getting back in the structure of school, and while being away from home, living on my own.”

As students continue to adjust to being back on campus, the momentum tells families and the broader community that Marian is a place where students are supported to achieve great things in the 2025-26 school year, as students are eager and hopeful for another successful year.
