A diverse group of friends and family gathering outdoors for a casual celebration, smiling and posing together. For the third consecutive year, Marian University, Indy’s only Catholic university, achieves historic enrollment growth with its largest-ever first-year class. This remarkable milestone includes welcoming over 1,300 new students seeking associate, bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees enrolled in campus-based or online programs, representing a 9% year-over-year increase in total new student enrollment.

This fall, there will be more than 800 new undergraduate students, a 7% increase in the undergraduate population. This milestone reflects Marian University’s ongoing commitment to strategic recruitment, student support, and accessibility. The new undergraduate population represents students from 27 states. The Most Popular Majors among our programs include Biology/Pre-Medical in the College of Arts and Sciences, Mechanical Engineering at the Witchger School of Engineering, Elementary Education at the Klipsch Educators College, and Nursing at the Leighton School of Nursing.

Among the standout achievements is a 15% increase in transfer enrollment, which university officials believe may represent the largest incoming transfer class in its history.

“This remarkable milestone is the result of intentional strategy, dedication, and hard work from our undergraduate Admissions and Financial Aid teams across our campuses,” said Marian University President Daniel J. Elsener. “Their commitment to helping students find their place at Marian University has never been stronger.”

The university’s growth is particularly notable in a challenging higher education demographic climate in Indiana. Indiana residents make up 87% of the new undergraduate class — a 5% increase from last year. Other top states include Ohio, Illinois, and Kentucky. Marian is also welcoming students from 21 different countries.

Marian University’s record-enrollment achievements reflect its mission to provide transformative, values-based education to students from diverse backgrounds, preparing them to lead and serve in their communities.
