Marian University welcomed hundreds of guests to its Arena and Convocation Center on Saturday, July 26th, for the annual Women of Marian Summer Luncheon, the signature event of the Women of Marian Society. Held from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., the gathering brought together alumnae, students, and community members for an inspiring afternoon celebrating the power of women’s leadership, particularly in politics.
This year’s Luncheon featured a dynamic panel discussion with influential women shaping policy at the local, state, and national levels. Panelists included Indiana State Senator Cyndi Carrasco, State Representative Julie McGuire, and State Representative Vanessa Summers. The conversation was moderated by Anne Hathaway, president and CEO of Hathaway Strategies and the first woman to serve as Chair of the Indiana Republican State Committee.
Panelists shared personal stories, legislative priorities, and candid reflections on the challenges and rewards of public service. From expanding educational opportunities and improving healthcare access to advancing equity and representation, the leaders encouraged attendees to stay civically engaged and support one another in leadership roles.
The Women of Marian Society, which hosts the Luncheon, honors the legacy of Marian’s founding Sisters of St. Francis, Oldenburg, Indiana. Through collective giving and meaningful connections, the Society funds scholarships that support Marian students throughout their academic journey.
