Late June 2025, Marian University welcomed more than 150 guests to its first-ever Summer Camp Cookout, an event hosted by the university’s Pathways Program. The evening offered a lively and engaging experience for the community, complete with food, games, and opportunities for families to connect with the Pathways Program team.
This celebration came during a landmark year for Marian University’s summer programming. Over the summer, the university will host more than 500 youth participants, the highest number in its history, for various educational and enrichment camps. Campers, ranging in age, travel from across Indiana and even other states to participate in programs designed to support academic achievement and personal development.
The Indiana Youth Programs on Campus grant, supported by the Lilly Endowment, made the Summer Camp Cookout possible. This initiative focuses on increasing access to higher education and inspiring young Hoosiers to envision a future that includes college.
More than just a meal, June’s event celebrated community, learning, and opportunity. In a welcoming and festive setting, families enjoyed the chance to build relationships and experience the Marian campus together.
“This event is really about building relationships and showing students and their families that Marian is where they belong,” said Jennifer Plumlee, Vice President for Access and Success. “We are proud to open our campus to more students than ever this year, and we’re excited about the positive impact that will have.”
As Marian University continues to expand its youth programs and campus outreach, events like the Summer Camp Cookout demonstrate its ongoing commitment to educational access, community engagement, and student success.
