Marian University to launch Lab Automation Studio and Advance Engineering Education with Gift from Biosero

Witchger CenterMarian University is proud to announce a landmark gift from Biosero, a global leader in laboratory automation based in San Diego, California. As part of this collaboration, Biosero is donating state-of-the-art laboratory automation equipment to Marian University's engineering program, including mobile robots, robotic arms, work cells, the company’s industry-leading Green Button Go® software, and other advanced laboratory-grade machinery.

This significant investment will establish a cutting-edge lab automation studio at Marian’s E.S. Witchger School of Engineering, providing students with hands-on experience using the same software and hardware technologies employed by world-class companies in the Indianapolis area and beyond. The partnership aims to ensure Marian’s engineering graduates are job-ready and equipped with the skills sought by top employers in the life sciences, biotechnology, and pharmaceutical sectors.

“This generous gift from Biosero marks a transformative moment for Marian University and the E. S. Witchger School of Engineering,” said Dr. Binh Tran, Marian’s Chief Academic Officer and founding dean of the E. S. Witchger School of Engineering. “By providing our students with direct access to industry-leading automation technologies, we are bridging the gap between classroom learning and real-world application.”

Biosero’s Green Button Go® software orchestrates complex laboratory workflows, integrating robotic arms, mobile robots, and work cells into a cohesive, automated ecosystem. Students will receive comprehensive training on this software with a variety of automated lab devices, preparing them for the rapidly evolving demands of modern laboratory environments.

“Marian University empowered me with a transformative education that prepared me to be a leader in both my profession and my life,” said Ryan Bernhardt, CEO of Biosero and a Marian chemistry alumnus. “Biosero is pleased to make this gift, allowing Marian to establish a world-class lab automation studio where the next generation of scientists, engineers, and software developers can learn valuable skills and take their first steps on an exciting and rewarding career path.”

Marian University extends its deepest gratitude to Biosero for its visionary support, which will empower students to become leaders in laboratory automation and innovation.
