The collaboration enables students to earn a dual degree in engineering, receiving a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from SMWC and a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from Marian University’s E. S. Witchger School of Engineering. In addition, a second agreement provides qualified SMWC graduates with priority consideration for admission to Marian University’s Tom and Julie Wood College of Osteopathic Medicine.

“These partnerships reflect our shared commitment to student-centered innovation and our commitment to preparing future leaders for high-impact careers critical to Indiana’s future,” said Marian University President Daniel J. Elsener. “This mission-centered collaboration brings Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College and Marian University together to better serve students and the state through an education illumined by the light of faith and grounded in gospel values.”

Through the 3+2 dual-degree engineering program, students will complete three years of coursework at SMWC, focusing on foundational mathematics and sciences. Students who maintain a 3.0 GPA will be eligible to transition into Marian University’s engineering program to complete their final two years of study in biomedical, mechanical, and civil engineering disciplines.

“This collaboration offers our students a unique opportunity to benefit from both institutions' academic strengths and supportive learning environments,” said SMWC President Brennan Randolph. “We are proud to partner with Marian University to broaden opportunities in high-demand fields like engineering and medicine.”

Both institutions share a strong Catholic liberal arts tradition, emphasizing academic rigor, ethical leadership, and a commitment to service. The dual-degree engineering program provides students with access to Marian’s state-of-the-art engineering facilities, including cutting-edge laboratories, high-tech classrooms, and collaborative design spaces.

In addition to the engineering partnership, SMWC has signed a second articulation agreement with Marian University’s College of Osteopathic Medicine, offering two tracks for qualified Biology–Preprofessional students: an Early Decision Track and a Guaranteed Interview Track. Each year, up to five students per track who meet the academic requirements will be eligible for guaranteed interviews or early acceptance into Marian’s Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) program. These agreements underscore a shared commitment to expanding access to transformative educational experiences, preparing students for successful careers in engineering, medicine, and beyond.
