by News Release | Aug 20, 2020

Colleges-of-DistinctionMarian University has been named a 2020-21 College of Distinction for Career Development for its career services center, The Exchange. Schools awarded the Career Development badge by Colleges of Distinction have shown that they are well equipped to help their students graduate with confidence through comprehensive four-year plans, advising, and more.

“We are honored and excited for The Exchange to be recognized as a Career Development College of Distinction,” said Jenny Morris, executive director of The Exchange. “Our team consistently strives to connect with students early and often—whether they are career explorers, internship seekers, or preparing for life post-graduation.”

In order to earn this prestigious distinction, Marian went through Colleges of Distinction’s evaluation process and excelled at each point in the following areas such as integrated career exploration, accessible programs and training, career-centered staff, assessments, employer relations, and unique and creative offerings.

“The Career Development recognition goes beyond a job board and résumé writing,” said Tyson Schritter, chief operating officer at Colleges of Distinction. “Marian University has shown inventiveness in connecting with students throughout their academic careers and beyond. Students and graduates are fully supported by Marian University’s outstanding career center.”

The Exchange has provided unparalleled support to the Marian community throughout every stage of career exploration, development, and application. Their work has focused on connecting students and alumni to experiential learning opportunities of all types (internships, applied research, special projects) to help them hone their communication, problem-solving, team building, and leadership skills.

“We are proud of, and were recognized for, the many resources available 24/7 to students and graduates,” said Morris. “And we encourage students and alumni to connect with us virtually or in person for an even more individualized experience, as they explore possibilities and work to achieve their goals.”
