female-graduate-student-in-classroomINDIANAPOLIS The Indiana State Board of Education gave final approval today for Marian University to offer a school superintendent licensure program. Superintendent coursework will be part of the university’s new Doctorate in Organizational Leadership, whose first cohort begins classes in July 2020.

This new level of licensure builds on 10 years of proven success in preparing building-level administrators in Marian University’s Klipsch Educators College Leadership Academy. It also helps fulfill Marian University’s vision to “prepare transformative leaders for service to the world.” Academy graduates currently serve as leaders in district schools, charter schools, and faith-based schools.

The Doctorate in Education uses an executive-program format with classes in the summer and one weekend a month. This format allows individuals to advance their careers while also meeting current work and family obligations. One path of courses will lead to superintendent licensure and an alternate track will prepare candidates for leadership in other settings such as business, non-profits, government, and healthcare.

The deadline for applications to the inaugural cohort for the Doctor of Education in Organizational Leadership and superintendent licensure is May 22. The program will host a virtual information session on May 18 at 4:00 p.m. For more information, visit http://marian.edu/orgleadership
