Marian University has a number of instrumental ensembles

Instrumental Ensembles

If you want to practice your instrumental skills while getting performance experience at both on- and off-campus venues, learn more about Marian University's ensemble groups. Except where noted, membership in these ensembles is open to all Marian University students and auditions are not required.

Concert Band

  • Auditions are required. As a student in our Concert Band, you'll perform standard works in the wind ensemble repertoire. This ensemble performs at least two concerts per semester. 

Jazz Band

  • Marian's Jazz Band performs standard and contemporary jazz works. The ensemble includes saxophone, trombone, trumpet, drums, piano, bass, and guitar student musicians. The band has performed at off-campus venues including the Indianapolis Motor Speedway with Wayne Newton.

Chamber Ensembles

  • As a student in our brass and woodwind Chamber Ensembles, you'll perform standard and contemporary chamber pieces.

Percussion Ensemble

  • Marian's Percussion Ensemble performs standard and contemporary percussion works. As a member, you'll participate in events like the Indiana Percussion Association clinic each December.

Basketball Band

  • Members of Marian's Basketball Band perform at all home basketball games for both men’s and women’s teams. 

Marching Band

  • As a member of the Marian University Marching Knights, you will perform at home football games, parades, pep rallies, and other campus events. The Marching Knights also participate in several exhibition performances at band contests as well as the Bands of America Regional and Grand National competitions in Lucas Oil Stadium. Scholarships are available for marching band and color guard members.

Drumline

  • Auditions are required.  As a member of Marian's Marching Knights Drumline, you'll perform with the marching band at all home football games and other on- and off-campus venues. Members of our drumline also participate in annual Percussive Arts Society International Convention (PASIC) competitions.
