Without flowers or leaves most people don’t think about woody-plant identification.  In reality, dormant plants provide lots of information about unique features between species.  Focusing on twigs, growth form, buds and other features helps us piece together identifications.  The uniqueness between species is often amazing.  The colors, shapes and patterns that are found in the winter are just as interesting, or more so, than leaf shapes and flowers during the growing season.  Weather permitting, the program will be partly outdoors, so be sure to dress for the weather.  The program is open to all ages and interest levels.  Meet at the Nina Mason Pulliam Nature Center at 4 p.m. and we will wrap up around 5:30 p.m.
