Marian University's chapter of the National Society of Leadership and Success (NSLS) was recently recognized in the top 25 percent of all chapters nationwide based on the achievement of chapter pillars. The society currently has over half a million members on more than 500 college campuses. Marian University’s chapter was established in 2016.

"To receive this award after being in existence for one year is very exciting. We are thrilled to be recognized,” Jennifer Plumlee, director of academic engagement and co-advisor for the university's NSLS chapter, said.

NSLS is the nation’s largest leadership honor society, and students are nominated by their university to become members. Members receive access to a leadership program, the opportunity to apply for member-exclusive scholarships, and inclusion in the society’s online job portal.

To become an inducted member of the society, students must complete the steps of the program. Steps include attending orientation, leadership training day, and success networking team meetings. Students must also attend speaker broadcasts featuring leading figures delivering success-related messages to members.

“We will continue to drive ourselves to excel in excellence and offer valuable leadership experiences to our students,” Plumlee said.

Collectively, students in NSLS have completed over 282,000 hours of community service.
