English Professor’s Work to be Featured on Public Radio’s The Writer’s Almanac

David Shumate, assistant professor of English and Poet-in-Residence at Marian University, will be featured on Public Radio’s The Writer’s Almanac this Wednesday, February 12.

Shumate’s poem entitled, “Lincoln,” from his new collection Kimonos in the Closet, has been chosen by Garrison Keillor for the poem to read in honor of Abraham Lincoln’s birthday.

Shumate is the author of three books of prose poetry, High Water Mark, The Floating Bridge, and Kimonos in the Closet, all published by the University of Pittsburgh Press. His poetry has also been anthologized in The Best American Poetry, Good Poems for Hard Times, and elsewhere.
