2010 Commencement: ROAD CLOSING UPDATE

Dr. Tony Bennett, Dr. Michael A. Evans, and Jack R. Snyder to Receive Honorary Degrees
Marian University’s first commencement, the institution’s 73rd, will take place on Saturday, May 8, 2010, at 10 a.m. at St.Vincent Health Field. This is the also the first commencement ceremony to be held at the new multi-purpose facility on campus. A record 586 students will receive the first Marian University degrees. This is also the eighth class of graduates to earn master of arts in teaching degrees and the fourth class of San Damiano Scholars to graduate. The commencement speaker will be Dr. Tony Bennett, current Indiana Superintendent of Public Instruction. For more than 20 years, Dr. Bennett has served Indiana’s school children and families as a teacher, coach, and administrator, helping ensure Indiana’s students receive the first-class education they deserve. Dr. Bennett will also receive an honorary doctor of public service. Honorary degrees will also be awarded to Dr. Michael A. Evans, president and chief executive officer of AIT Laboratories (doctor of business), and Jack R. Snyder, chairman emeritus of Marian University’s Board of Trustees (doctor of humanities). ROAD CLOSING UPDATE Cold Spring Road from Lafayette Road to the 2700 block (Granada Circle) is closed to through traffic, allowing local access only.The official detour for through traffic is Lafayette Road to Kessler Boulevard to 30th Street. Portions of 16th Street, Holt Road, White River Parkway, 10th Street, and Michigan Road are closed on Saturday, May 8, because of the Mini Marathon.View the course map for more details.
