Marian University Professor a Finalist for Indy’s Best and Brightest

by Katie Bradley | Oct 03, 2014

Kimberly Vogt, Ph.D, assistant professor of biology at Marian University, is a finalist for Indy’s Best and Brightest, a distinction created by Junior Achievement to recognize up-and-coming talent and the next generation of leaders in the Indianapolis community.

A leader within the School of Mathematics and Sciences, Dr. Vogt also dedicates time and resources to STEM outreach, volunteering with: Celebrate Science Indiana, National Science Teachers Association, and Hoosier Association of Science Teachers, Inc.

“Dr. Vogt is certainly one of Indiana’s best and brightest. She exhibits excellence in many areas, but most relevant to this nomination is the extent to which she supports and inspires her students on a daily basis. By the combination of her activities in the classroom, in the laboratory, in settings of personal advising, and in community outreach, she is the hallmark of success in preparing the next generation of students for effective careers in STEM. We are extremely fortunate to have her in the School of Mathematics and Sciences,” said Loren Bertocci, dean of the School of Mathematics and Sciences at Marian University.

Dr. Vogt is among 99 other individuals in the Indiana community in the running for this honor. Finalists in each category are judged on professional accomplishments, civic contributions, and character and leaderships qualities.

The categories honored include the following: accounting; banking and financial services, education and non-profit; government; health and life sciences; law; media, entertainment, and sports; real estate development and construction; manufacturing, retail, and services; and technology.

Winners will be announced at the 11th annual Indy’s Best and Brightest event on Thursday, October 16 at the Ivy Tech Corporate College and Culinary Center.
