Code of Ethics

Our consultants' commitment to one another, to our peers, and to our community is to:

  • Act in a way that promotes trust.
  • Hold each other accountable.
  • Serve one another with respect.
  • Engage the whole person.
  • Cultivate an inclusive and safe space.
  • Maintain open communication.
  • Respect the rights and confidentiality of every student and consultation.

Through these standards, we can all act in good faith as ambassadors of the Marian University Media Center.

Public Speaking Tutors
Harness your strengths with a one-on-one consultation with an Academic Commons tutor specializing in public speaking. No matter your stage of the speech-making process (topic selection, research, organizing, outlining, or delivery), our tutors have the resources for you. In addition to assisting with speeches and individual/group presentations, we’re also here to support you with public speaking anxiety. You can meet with a student tutor by appointment or during walk-in hours Monday through Friday. Schedule an appointment here: https://marian.mywconline.com/

Media Center Tutors
The Media Center tutors (lowest level of Clare Hall) can help you with podcasting, film, photography, or design projects. They can also help you check out multimedia equipment. Make an appointment with a student tutor through mediacenter@marian.edu (fall and spring only).
