Opportunities in the World of Law Enforcement
Cameron McDowell, sociology major and Marian University resident assistant, spent his summer interning with the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department. Cameron’s dream is to be in law enforcement someday. The Sheriff’s Department took him through the Emergency Vehicle Operator Course, to drive safely in an emergency situation. He rode with officers on their “beat.” Cameron says, “We responded to a domestic violence call, an attempted suicide call and investigation, a stolen vehicle call, traffic issues, a stolen bike call, multiple alarm calls, and multiple suspicious person calls.”
His final week was spent in the detectives’ bureau investigating crime scenes, questioning witnesses, and serving warrants. Cameron is now searching for future opportunities to experience the world of law enforcement.
