A minor in Business Creation and Development for Liberal Arts Majors
The minor, offered to all non-business majors, is targeted primarily to liberal arts (humanities and sciences) students, to support their creativity and provide them with the skills to create their own businesses or practices or to utilize their academic disciplines in a business setting. The minor in business creation and development is designed to create options for members of the
“creative class”1 so they are well equipped to pursue possibilities in their chosen disciplines.

A concentration in Business Creation and Development
Students in the Department of Business are able to pursue a concentration in Business Creation and Development. As with the minor, this concentration will help the students prepare to create their own businesses or to better use their education in a business setting. This program is a strong complement to any major within the Department of Business.
All students in the program will be required to
participate in a service learning course, and will be strongly
encouraged to have an internship. For both the minor and the
concentration, a capstone course will require seniors in the
program to create a business plan for a venture of their own
design. Local business leaders will be invited to review and
critique each student’s plan and the plan must be approved
for successful completion of the program.
