Women's golf named Scholar Team - 8/2/2008

 
INDIANAPOLIS - The Marian College Department of Athletics is proud to announce that 12 of its 18 competitive programs were named NAIA Scholar Teams for the 2007-08 academic year.
 
The award is given to a program that has maintained a 3.00 cumulative grade point average as a team during the entire academic year.
 
The Knights set a school record for academic excellence as just three programs were honored in 2006-07.
 
Leading the way for the Knights was the women's softball team which had a 3.43 cumulative GPA. Women's golf followed with a 3.35.
 
Women's tennis (3.31) and men's tennis (3.30) were repeat Scholar Teams with men's golf (3.28) and women's soccer (3.21) right behind.
 
The men's cross country program had a 3.19 GPA while the women's indoor track and field squad had a 3.13. The women's cross country team (3.12) was the third repeat Scholar Team.
 
Women's outdoor track and field (3.11), women's basketball (3.08), and volleyball (3.07) also earned the honor.
 
Congratulations to all of the athletes who have exceled on the field of play and in the classroom.
