SAN DIEGO - Sophomore Angela Gauck (Greensburg, Indiana/Greensburg) earned a ninth-place finish at the 2008 NAIA National Women's Golf Championship at Lake San Marcos Country Club over the weekend.

 

Gauck opened the tournament on a sour note, however. She opened the 72-hole tournament with an 11-over-par round of 83. She climbed back in contention after a four-over-par second round performance.

 

A seven-over-par (79) third round put her in the top 10, but an eight-over-par (80) final round gave her an aggregate 72-hole score of 318.

 

She finished 10 shots back of eventual champion Shanna Page.

 

It is the second straight top 10 finish for Gauck after a third-place performance in 2007.

 

For her finish, Gauck was named to the 2008 All-Tournament team.
